Defragmentation Report

Over a period of time, the freezer has many gaps as specimens are removed for utilization or distribution. This report gives insights into how to defragment (or consolidate) a freezer.

The accuracy of the report depends on how well the “container restrictions” (like CP, specimen type, etc) are defined.

Once the actual consolidation is completed, the same report can be imported back using the "Specimen" CSV import template as an 'Update' operation.

How to use the defragmentation report?

  1. From overview page of the container (freezer) → Export → Defragment

2. You get a choice: Move all aliquots of a parent in the same box (Y/N)

Note: This process sometimes takes time. You will get an email after the process is completed along with the report to download (ensure email notifications are enabled).

3. Review and update positions as required. The same report can be imported back using the "Specimen" CSV import template as an 'Update' operation. Refer to Create/Update Specimen for more details.
