Resizing Containers
Containers, once created, can be modified through the user interface or by utilizing bulk import.
The table below gives you insight into the use cases for resizing the containers
Container | Increase Dimensions | Decrease Dimensions | Solution |
---|---|---|---|
Empty | Allowed | Allowed |
|
Holds child containers | Allowed | Not allowed* | Remove, transfer, or delete the additional containers from the parent |
Holds specimens | Allowed | Not allowed* | Make the specimens virtual or temporarily transfer them to another container. Update the dimensions and transfer the specimens back |
*Even though reducing dimensions for non-empty containers isn't allowed, you can reduce dimensions if entire rows or columns are empty.
For example, in a 9x9 box where the first two rows are fully occupied (18 samples/container) and the remaining seven rows are empty, you can reduce the number of rows accordingly.
