Pooled Specimens (v9.0)

Introduction

Pooling is the process of merging one or more specimens of the same patient or multiple patients into a single specimen. The pooled specimen can be stored or used for testing and processing.

Highlights:

  1. Specimens from multiple participants and visits within one CP can be pooled.

  2. Specimens can be pooled even if the specimen types and lineage are different.

  3. The pooled specimen has to be linked to a participant and visit.

  4. When pooling across multiple participants, you can assign one of the participants. Or you can create a dummy participant to store all the pooled specimens.

  5. The pooled specimen is highlighted with a ‘Pink’ color and tagged as ‘Pooled’.

  6. The specimens used in pooling are marked as closed.

Not supported:

  1. Defining pooled specimens in CP’s Specimen Requirements is not supported.

  2. You cannot pool specimens from two different CPs.
