Color coding by Specimen Status

Introduction
Earlier, to find the specimen’s availability status, you had to search multiple fields, like collection status, container position, quantity, etc. It was cumbersome and error-prone.
From v8.1, a new field, ‘specimen availability,' has been introduced. This field is automatically calculated and can be used to filter queries. You can now view specimens based on their availability status, e.g., pending, collected, available, distributed, etc., on the specimen list view and overview pages.
The default workflow comes with the specimen status field configured across the system.
If a CP has JSON workflow configured, the colour coding must be configured within the CP workflow.
OpenSpecimen displays the colour code for specimens based on their status as follows
Below table indicates the colour and status
Colour | Status | Description |
|---|---|---|
Green | Available (Planned, Unplanned, Stored, Not Stored) | Specimen is available |
Orange | Pending | Specimen yet to be collected |
Grey | Missed/Not Collected | Specimen is not collected/missed |
Blue | Distributed | Specimen is distributed |
Purple | Reserved | Specimens reserved for distribution under specific distribution protocol |
Red | Closed | The specimen is not available for any processes |
Pink | Pooled | Specimen is pooled |

The colour-coded sample availability status is displayed on the specimen list view page.
Availability Status on Specimen Overview Page
The colour-highlighted specimen availability status is also displayed on the specimen overview page beside the specimen label.
Availability Status | Description | Output |

Available (Planned, Unplanned, Stored, Not Stored) | The specimen is collected and available for further processing. |

Filter Specimens by Status
It is possible to filter specimens on the list pages using the ‘Status’ dropdown search filter
To filter out specimens by status, click on the 'Search' button.
