Storage Site based Specimen Privileges

Introduced in v10.1

In some use cases, specimens are processed by one team and stored in a different facility. E.g. central storage facility. In such cases, once the specimen is moved to the storage facility, the users of the processing lab should not be able to edit the specimen.

Steps to enable the setting:

  1. Navigate to the CP overview page

  2. Click on the settings tab->Label Format and Print

  3. On editing the settings, under advanced label format you will find ‘Storage Site based Update Checks’

Impact of the setting:

If a CP has two or more sites, and a specimen is stored in one site, the users of other sites cannot edit the specimens. They can see the specimen and all its values, use in query etc. However, until the specimen is returned to their site, a user cannot update it.

Example:

The study TPC has 2 sites - Central Repository and Tissue Procurement Lab. The setting ‘Storage Site based Update Checks’ is enabled.

User is given below access

  • Site - Tissue Procurement Lab

  • CP - TPC

  • Role - Tissue Banker

When the user logs into the system, he/she will be able to perform below actions on the specimens that are either stored in containers of site ‘Tissue Procurement Lab’ or not stored.

  1. Create new specimen

  2. Edit Specimen

  3. Transfer

  4. Close Specimen

  5. Delete Specimen

  6. Create pooled specimens

  7. Create child specimens

  8. Add/Edit specimen event

  9. Retrieve specimen

  10. Distribute specimens

  11. Ship specimens

  12. BO add/update
