How to handle Participants with Withdrawn Consent

When participants withdraw their consent, it is crucial to follow specific steps to ensure compliance, maintain ethical standards, and address any related issues.

This guide outlines the necessary actions to take when consent is withdrawn.

Disposing Specimen While Retaining Participant Information.

For reporting purposes, the centers can choose to retain the participant information, in this case, you can dispose all the specimens so that it can not be further used for distribution or processing.

Dispose Specimen From Participant Page

  1. Navigate to the Participant → Open Visit for which the specimens are collected.

  2. Using the Checkbox(1), select all the specimens

  3. Action(2)→ Close(3)

Dispose Specimen From Query for Multiple Participants and Visits.

  1. Create a basic query, and include all the PPIDs for all those that have withdrawn the consent.

  2. From the Query Result Page, Click on the Select All(1) button → Specimens(2) → Close(3).

Deleting Participants from OpenSpecimen

If you need to delete a participant from OpenSpecimen, you can do so either through the user interface (UI) or by using the bulk import feature for participants in across protocols. For more detailed instructions, please click on the links below.

Deleting Participant will remove all the information from OpenSpecimen. Please take backup, if you want to refer to the details later.

You can use Export Feature, to take Backups.
