Why can't I see pending specimens under a visit?
To reduce the clutter on the user interface, the planned specimens can be hidden after a number of days if not collected. This is controlled by a system level setting 'Pending Specimens Display Interval'. Please note that it is not possible to show/hide pending specimens at study level.
Setting value ‘0' or blank indicates that you prefer to keep pending specimens visible all the time. In this case, the 'Show/Hide Pending’ button will not be displayed.
If you want to hide the pending specimens after 30 days from the visit date, you can set the value to 30. After 30 days, the specimens will be hidden and the ‘Show Pending’ button will be displayed
Note: The show/hide pending button will only appear when the pending specimens are automatically hidden due to this setting.
How to configure?
The default value shipped with OpenSpecimen is 60 days but can be changed.
Example use case: Today’s date Jul 10, 2025, setting value = 30.
Visit added on Jul 7, 2025
Visit added on Jun 1, 2025 has the ‘Show Pending’ button visible. You can click on ‘Show Pending’ option.
Once shown, you can hide such pending specimens using the ‘Hide Pending’ option.
