Public vs Private Catalog

You have the option to create a catalog that is either accessible without requiring a login or one that necessitates user authentication before accessing the catalog.

This is decided based on the field ‘Requires Login?’ while setting up the catalog

If OpenSpecimen access is limited to users on the university or organization VPN, contact your IT team to request public access for the catalog URL, especially if you plan to share it with external users.

Private Catalog Access

When setting up a private catalog, you have the option to limit access to specific user groups. By selecting ‘Requires Login?’ as ‘Yes’, a new field ‘User Groups’ will appear, listing all the user groups created within the application.
