Specimen Catalog and Requests

Introduction

Biobanks provide valuable biospecimens and data to researchers, advancing biospecimen research. However, many struggle to share samples, making it hard for researchers to source them.

OpenSpecimen's SpecimenCatalog module bridges this gap with a web-based catalog, allowing researchers to search for samples and data using various filters. They can compare samples from different biobanks and request access directly. OpenSpecimen forwards all requests to biobanks, which fulfil orders and ship biospecimens.

SpecimenCatalog enables biobanks to upload diverse data about their biospecimens, including samples, de-identified clinical, and quality assurance data. It is configurable, allowing biobanks to control data upload and access.
