Types of Users
There are 4 types of users you can create in OpenSpecimen.
Type | Description |
|---|---|
Super Administrator | Has access to all the data and operations across all the sites and institutes in the application. |
Institute Administrator | Has access to all the data and operations within all the sites of the institute to which the user is associated. |
Regular User | Has limited access based on their roles within the associated site. |
Contact User | Users that do not log in to the system. For example, nurses, external lab members, etc. |

The table below outlines all the fields available on the user page.
Creating Regular Users
Administrators (Super/Institute/Site) have the capability to create users and assign them specific roles. These roles can be designated for a particular CP or for all CPs within a site.
Select the 'Users' card from the home page or menu and click 'Create'.
Selecting 'Regular' will allow you to assign the user roles.

Creating Contact Users
Some users do not need to log into OpenSpecimen. E.g., Study PI, clinic staff etc. However, you still want to record data against them for record-keeping and audit purposes.
You can create a 'Contact' user type for such users. These users do not receive any emails.
