When biobank technicians receive primary specimens from the collection centers, invariably, they perform the following tasks of the many in their workflow:

  1. Relabel the primary specimen and print it.

  2. Pre-print the child specimen labels and use them on the specimen vials.

You need to create a print rule for the CP and specimens for which you wish to print labels.

  • Navigate to 'Collection Protocols' → Select your CP and go to the overview page.

  • Click on the 'Settings' tab → Label Format and Print.

  • Click on ‘Edit', under ‘Miscellaneous Settings’, you will see the ‘Create Pending Specimens’ setting. Select 'On Primary Receive’.

  • Upon receiving primary specimens, all the child specimens will be created in a 'Pending' status.

  • OpenSpecimen allows users to relabel the specimens that are received. To do this, the 'Relabel Specimens' settings in the System settings should be enabled.

  • The default ‘System Receive’ Workflow doesn’t have 'Relabel Specimens' section configured. To configure the workflow to allow relabelling os specimens, refer to the wiki page for more details or contact support@krishagni.com for assistance.
