Pre-print Labels before Collection

In planned CPs, you would want to pre-print specimen labels before collection. E.g., sometimes, only the primary collection tubes are printed before going to the clinic, and the aliquots are printed later in the lab after the collection. The complete kit is pre-created in bulk and sent to the collection sites in a multi-site clinical trial. Based on such use cases, these fields have to be configured.

Under specific collection protocol, follow the steps to configure the settings:

  1. Click on the 'Settings' tab i.e the spanner icon on the left hand side panel of the CP overview page.
  2. Click on 'Label Format and Print Settings' →  'Edit'
  3. Click on  'Show advance settings' .
  4. Under the  'SPECIMEN PRINT SETTINGS' section set the 'Pre-print' option.

Collect Pending Specimens

Defines if you want to pre-create the specimens before the actual collection. This is necessary when you have to pre-print labels.

  1. On Registration: Create all specimens during participant registration. Suitable for creating collection kits for a multi-site study.
  2. On Visit Collection: Create all specimens for that visit during visit collection. Suitable for pre-printing primary specimen labels before going to the clinic.
  3. On Primary Collection: Create child specimens for that primary specimen.
  4. On Primary Receive: Create child specimens for that primary specimen upon receive.
  5. On Shipment Receive: Create child specimens for the primary specimens upon the shipment receive.

All specimens are created in the 'Pending' state.

Specimen Printing

'When to Print' defines when the specimen labels are printed.

'Lineage' defines which specimens are printed.

  1. On Receive: Print label whenever a primary specimen is received. This will default the 'Print' checkbox on the receive specimens page.
  2. Pre-print: Pre-printing is linked to the 'Create Pending Specimens' field. E.g., If it is set to 'Registration', the pre-print will happen at registration.
  3. On collection: Print label whenever a specimen is collected. This will default the 'Print' checkbox on the specimen collection page.
  4. None: No automatic printing.

Note:

  1. These settings can be overridden per specimen requirement. If you want the CP level to be used, ensure that the value is blank in SR pre-print fields.
  2. Label formats have to be set for auto-generation to use the pre-print option.
