OpenSpecimen allows users to add existing participants to another protocol. You can use any of the below fields to uniquely identify a participant:

  1. eMPI
  2. MRN + MRN site
  3. SSN.

E.g., Register a participant having eMPI ‘110231’ (already present in CP ‘Skin Cancer Study’) to another CP ‘Lung Cancer Research Study1’.

Visits and specimen data will not be automatically moved after adding the participants to another protocol.

Steps:

  • Navigate to the 'Participant' list page of the CP you want to register the same participant → More → ‘Biospecimen Data’.

  • Select 'Participant Registrations’ from the 'Select Records Type' dropdown and download the template file from UI.

  • Add the existing EMPI of the participant under the respective column in the template file.
  • Add a short title and PPID (if auto-generation is off) of another CP on which the user is going to register the participant in the columns ‘CPR#1#CP Short Title’ and ‘CPR#1#PPID’ respectively.

  • Upload the file and select ‘Import Type’ as ‘Create’ → ‘Validate and Import’.
  • The system will register the participant to another CP using the existing eMPI.
