In OpenSpecimen, you can create two types of catalogs: specimen-based and count-based. Below are brief details for each type.

Specimen Based Catalog

The specimen-based catalog displays specimens as unique rows instead of counts. You can create the “Search query” 'Search query' to display specimens as unique rows in the Catalog.

Steps to create the catalog:

  2. For the specimen-based catalog, make sure that the query you create shows individual rows for specimens

Count Based Catalog

The count-based catalog displays the count of specimens along with their respective data. You can create the 'Search query' to use aggregate counts to display specimen counts instead of the list of actual specimens in the Catalog. E.g., count specimens for each type, per patient, visit, etc.

  2. For the specimen-count catalog, make sure that the query has a count aggregate filter added on the specimen label
