Request managers can approve the specimen request. Once approved, the technician can distribute the requested specimens to the requester.

Based on the availability of the requested specimens, request managers can approve or reject the request.

Updating specimen request

If the user has 'Request Manager' access to the catalog, they can edit the researcher's request to add/remove specimens as it is in pending status.

To add specimens

  1. Navigate to the catalog → View request → Click on the pending request.
  2. Click on the Specimen tab → Click on the ‘Add Specimen’ button.

  3. Users can either add specimen labels or scan barcodes to add specimens. Check the ‘Use Barcode’ checkbox if the user is scanning barcodes.
  4. The catalog is not restricted to a single protocol if the same specimen label exists in two different protocols. In that case, the user will receive a popup like the one below where you can select a protocol to which the specimen belongs.

To remove specimens 

  1. Navigate to the catalog → View request → Click on the pending request.

  2. Click on the Specimen tab → Select the specimen you wish to remove → Remove.Image Removed

Adding Requested Specimens to the Cart

  1. Click on the 'Cart' tab that leads to the list of specimens that have been requested.

2. Select specimens by clicking on the row or the overview icon that leads to another screen with specimen details. Ensure the specimen 'identifier' is one column among all the other details.

3. An 'Add' button appears at the top after selecting the specimen by clicking on the row. Click on the 'Add'.

4. If there is no Distribution Protocol selected in the request, a popup appears, allowing you to choose a distribution protocol.

5. After choosing deciding the DP and clicking 'Done', another tab, 'Specimens', appears on the left-hand side of the request overview page.

6. You can now approve the request and distribute the specimens. You can also download the report.
