Label format
Important: Since kits are created before it is linked to a participant, the visit and specimen label formats cannot use any token that depends on the participant. E.g. PPID, PUID, PPI_UID, etc.
Print settings
To include specimens in a kit you need to configure the below settings. Within the settings a new value is included in the dropdown ‘when to print’ called “pre-print”. This indicates that the label has to be printed during kit creation.
Setting Name | Importance |
---|---|
Label formats | All the tokens for visit, specimen levels are supported except format cannot contain participant level tokens. E.g. PPI, PPI_UID, PUID. |
Kit Labels | Should be enabled |
Specimen Print Settings | Define what needs to be pre-printed during kit creation* |
Configure the print setting depending on whether the kits contain only primary specimens, only aliquots, or both.

Supply settings

Are supply barcodes used in visit names? | Set to “Yes” |
Barcode Validation Mode | This option is used to validate barcodes when a visit or specimen is created. Strict: An error is generated when the visit/specimen barcodes do not match the available supply item. Relaxed: No error is generated when the visit/specimen barcodes do not match the available supply item. Ideally this value should be set to “Strict” since CPs which use supplies module should not be using barcodes not created by OpenSpecimen. |
Shipments → Receive Sites | This is used only if you are using the “Kit Shipment” feature. This indicates the site name which is going to recieve the kits. Refer to the wiki page for more information on 'Kits Shipment' |
