Does OpenSpecimen meet ADA WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance?
OpenSpecimen largely supports Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 Level A/AA standards for web accessibility and keyboard navigation, but it falls short of complete compliance. This is due to issues like missing aria-labels on header buttons, a missing HTML lang tag, inconsistent tooltips, and untagged PDF exports.
What are Krishagni's’s plans to meet the standards?
While OpenSpecimen is primarily an internal software used by biobank researchers and lab personnel rather than the general public, we recognize that our USA-based customers must align all enterprise software with ADA Title II and WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards.
Our Approach & Roadmap:
Evaluation & Audit: We are currently evaluating our user interface against WCAG 2.1 AA criteria.
VPAT & Remediation: Any identified accessibility gaps will be prioritized in upcoming product release cycles.
Please email us at contact@krishagni.com if your institution's compliance office requires specific VPAT details or accessibility documentation for your review.
