IllegalStateException while exporting the container map

Error description

While exporting the container map, sometimes users encounter an error:

IllegalStateException: Duplicate key -- (attenpted merging values ---- and -----) (Common Server Error)

Cause of the error

2 or more specimens are stored in the same position. These errors are usually introduced during legacy data migration, direct SQL updates, and similar operations.

How to identify 2 specimens stored in the same container position?

Using OpenSpecimen’s reporting module, the user can build a report for this.

Step 1: Select filters

Broad range filters can be used, e.g., Specimen Label Exists and Container site <specific value>

Step 2: Select columns

The ‘Aggregate Filters’ will only show positions where more than 1 specimen has the same position.

Caveats:

Query also includes dimensionless containers
Query also includes virtual locations (auto-generated during shipments)

Step 3: View results

This can be verified from the container’s specimen list page
