Add/Edit Dropdown Values (Using Forms)

For fields like dropdown, radio button, multi-select dropdown, and checkbox controls, you can manually add the permissible values or upload the text or CSV file containing the permissible values.

Via UI:

ADD

  • Click on ‘Add Field’ on the Form Overview page, Select ‘Dropdown’.

  • Add ‘display Label’ say Department. Then enter options by clicking ‘Add Options’.

  • Click ‘Save’.

EDIT

  • Click on the 'Edit' icon of the field that you want to add PVs for.

  • Click on ‘Add Option’ to add new value.

  • Click ‘Save’.

Via ‘Upload Options’:

ADD

  • Click on ‘Add Field’ on the Form Overview page, Select ‘Dropdown’.

  • Add ‘display Label’. Then enter options by clicking ‘Upload Options’.

  • Select a file with options, preferably a text file. Click ‘Save’.

When adding new values to the dropdown, make sure not to include existing options, as this will create duplicates.

 

EDIT

  • Click on the 'Edit' icon of the field that you want to upload PVs for.

  • Click on ‘Upload Options’, and upload a text file.

  • Click ‘Save’.

When you export a form, the dropdown values are exported as separate CSV only if it has more than 15 values.

Add Permissible Values (From Dropdown Manager)

You can also use the permissible value available in the Dropdown Manager to add to your custom field

  • Click on '+ Add Field' and select 'Permissible Value'

  • Enter the field name

  • The field ‘Dropdown’ will show all the available fields in the dropdown manager.

  • Select the dropdown value → Save it.

  • Click on 'Done' to save the Form

Advantages of adding PVs using the dropdown manager

  • Easier to maintain.

  • You can directly export the values for the field and use them in other forms.

  • Changes in the dropdown manager automatically update in the form. For manually added dropdowns, data must be changed separately when altering a value.
