How does container position assignment work?

This content is archived.

OpenSpecimen allows users to decide the orientation and direction of specimen storage in the containers. This page will give you an overview of the horizontal vs vertical position assignment

  1. Orientation: This decides whether the boxes is filled horizontal (row-based) or vertical (column-based)

  2. Movement: This is how the containers are filled from top to bottom or bottom to top

  3. Direction: Left to right, Right to left

There are a total of 8 approaches for using the above combination

Horizontal Assignment

  1. The container has two dimensions: 4 and 5.

  2. Dimension 1 (4) uses alphabet labels with horizontal positioning.

  3. The first alphabet fills the horizontal positions, hence the first row is A; the next starts with B.

  4. The position filling will continue for dimension 2, i.e from A1, A2… till A5

Vertical Assignment
