Query specimens in more than one cart

Users add specimens to their carts to perform actions like distribution. But if a specimen is added to more than one cart, it can cause conflicts, especially if different users are working with the same specimen.

These overlaps are easy to miss when working with large batches. To avoid issues, users can run a query to identify specimens that appear in multiple carts early in the process.

The steps to create this query differ slightly before version 12.1 due to a bug in earlier versions. If you're using a version older than 12.1, you'll need to follow a workaround. Ensure to use the steps that match your OpenSpecimen version.

  1. Create a query with the following filters. You can add more filters as needed.

  1. Select the columns you require.

Note: Include the Specimen 'Identifier' column. If not included, the system only shows the latest cart, even if the specimen is added to multiple carts.

  1. Add a 'Count' on the 'Identifier' column.

The parameterized filter helps users easily filter specimens and see how many carts each specimen is in.
