Biospecimen Module Upgrade
We have upgraded the UI tech stack for biospecimen module as part of technical advancement. With new UI infrastructure, we are introducing
Biospecimen data entry will be handled via default workflows (sequential task list)
Change in ‘look and feel’
Quick display: ‘visit overview’ for ‘Occurred visits’ on participant overview page
Optional hiding of Collection/ Utilization stats for occured visits
Note: No impact on existing data entry
Support for Multiple Specimen Units
Reported by: Columbia University Irving Medical Center, University of Utah
One of the most awaited enhancements, many clients who regularly onboard newer research groups, usually face challenges in making specimen units uniform and apply that for all the legacy samples. With this major enhancement, we are providing:
Support separate specimen units per CP (quantity units, concentration units).
No impact on current setup of specimen types/ units with upgrade.
Superadmins can view/ edit specimen units across the system from one place.
Note: If units are updated after specimens are collected, then the existing specimens won't be automatically recalculated.

Auditing Enhancements
Previous audit reports based on user/ object type were resource intensive and time-consuming. To get accurate results, users often used to run multiple audit reports, resulting in environment slowness/ breakdown, etc.
Export audit logs based on the object identifiers. For example: Download audit log for specimen IDs 1,2,3
Users can generate only one audit report at one time to minimize usage of server resources

REDCap Enhancements
Reported by: Washington University
Plugin updated to support redcap database level changes post REDCap v14.0
Create multiple visits in OpenSpecimen if multiple REDCap events are mapped to single event in OS
Refer to REDCap Integration
Workflows Plugin
Reported by: University Medical Center, Utrecht, University Medical Center, Groningen
New features:
Search workflow batches using visit name
Edit the same form record across multiple tasks within a workflow batch
Using the find usage button in the workflow library, you can check which task is used in which workflow
You can now process a specimen from the waiting queue more than once. For example: A tissue block can be processed into slides as and when required.
The ‘Copy First to All’ text is now replaced with an icon to reduce the column space.
Link custom workflows to the default buttons. For example: Link receive workflow to the ‘Receive’ button, collect specimens workflow to ‘Collect’ visit button.
The first column of every workflow task will be frozen automatically.
Use custom fields at the CP level for adding conditions in the workflow tasks
This is a paid plugin. Please contact us if you are interested to get a quote for this module.
