Introduction

The Workflow Plugin allows you to design highly customized lab workflows. A workflow is a sequence of “Tasks” configured based on the specimen processing SOP of the lab or study. You can define multiple workflows as per local needs.

The workflow plugin is best suited for high-throughput labs that process many specimens daily and/or have many users. The SOP-driven approach of the workflows ensures that lab users can easily follow a predefined series of tasks.

This plugin is expected to reduce the data entry time drastically and reduce human errors.

A workflow consists of multiple tasks in a wizard-like user interface
Each task can be an action (e.g., create a visit, receive specimen, create aliquots, store, etc.)
Each task can have data collection based on standard or custom fields
Branching logic based on the previous task
Workflows can be assigned to one or more CPs
Workflows can be assigned to user groups (e.g., blood processing is done by one user, tissue processing is done by another user)

What skills do you need to develop workflows?

A. You require some basic technical background because configuring workflows needs JSON and JavaScript (JS) files.

Can a workflow be used across multiple CPs?

A. Yes, you can use the same workflow if the procedure is the same for various CPs. For example, if two CPs process the serum tubes following a standard SOP, both can have a single workflow.
