Hierarchical query for child samples based on conditions of parent specimens
Use case: A user wishes to display the participant in OpenSpecimen, who has DNA derived specimens from whole blood with malignant pathological status.
This can be done using a hierarchical query feature If you search child specimens based on the condition of the parent sample using the following steps:
Go to 'Queries' from the 'Dashboard' and click on 'Create'.
First add parent specimen conditions under the 'Specimen' filter, apply the filter as 'Type > Whole Blood', 'Collection Status > Collected', 'Pathlogical status > 'Malignant' '.
Now add child specimen conditions under 'Specimen' filter, apply the filter as 'Type > DNA', 'Pathlogical status > 'Malignant' '.
Clicking on ‘View Records' > ‘Actions' > 'Columns', select the 'Short Title' from 'Collection Protocol', 'Specimen Label', 'Specimen Type', 'Collection Status’ , ‘Pathlogical status', 'Container Name’ rename the column titles as needed and click on 'Done’ button.
The DNA child specimens from whole blood (collected/stored) with malignant pathological status will appear on the result view, as shown in the above image.
The data view can be sorted in ascending/descending order by clicking on the column headers.
