Process aliquots within specific protocols

For high throughput labs where multiple aliquots are processed for multiple participants at once, this feature is useful. Users can scan barcodes of multiple aliquots stored in a box using box scanner and assign locations within OpenSpecimen in a single screen.

Pre-requisites:

  • This works only for planned protocols where the events and specimen requirements are pre-defined

  • Labels are auto-generated for all specimens and pending specimens are created with labels before collection

  • Participants are registered

Steps:

  • Go to participants list view of the protocol and click on 'Process Aliquots'

System will display the freezers which are suitable for storage of aliquots for that protocol. Choose the specific box in which the aliquots have to be stored.

Copy and paste the aliquot barcodes from the box scanner output into the text area as below and click on 'Assign Positions'. The aliquot barcodes should match the auto-generated labels for that CP. This is the link for the system to match the corresponding participant, visit and parent specimen. If parent specimens are in pending state, even those are collected.

  • No labels
