Freezer facilities frequently receive lists of boxes (containers) for storage and must then locate the appropriate space across their freezer units. This function facilitates this process based on user-defined criteria.

E.g. The freezer facility receives a request for 40 boxes (container type: 2-inch box). Freezer facility user needs to find space to store these boxes in racks reserved for collection protocol ‘LCPRP’“Find Space” is a new feature introduced in v10.3 which enables you to quickly find the right freezer to store one or more boxes. For example, if you receive 40 2-inch boxes for collection protocol ‘LCPRP’ and want to see which freezer or rack has ten consecutive free slots.

Info

Pre-requisite: Selected container type to find places can be held by existing container types defined at ‘N-1’ level (where N = number of levels in hierarchy).

E.g., Rack represents N-1 level, if a freezer has 4 level hierarchy: Freezer, Shelf, Racks, Boxes,

Reference: Container types - Can hold

This feature gives the best possible suggestion if

  1. All the containers in the system at ‘N-1’ level have defined container types

  2. All the containers in the system at ‘N-1’ level have defined collection protocols/ specimen type restrictions

Criteria

Reference screenshot to define criteria

This feature will work only if container types are configured properly. Refer to Container types - Can hold for more details.

Step 1: Define Criteria

From Container list view → Actions → Find Spaces

You can provide criteria for the kind of boxes you will store, based on which the system will look for empty slots.

Name

Description

Type (Mandatory)

Specify type Type of container box which you need to store, E.g., 2 inch boxes, 9x9 boxes, etc.

Freezer

If you need to store boxes within a specific freezer

Collection Protocol

Specify This should be specified only if you have configured CP restrictions on parent the container.

Required Places

Specify the number of containers for which you are seeking storage spaceNumber of boxes to store, e.g., 20 boxes.

All in same container

Check if user wants you want to store all the boxes in the same parent container

Strict Match

Check if user strictly wants to find places based on CP and container type restrictions only.

Strict match conditions

...

This checkbox drives whether freezers with no restrictions should be included in the results or not. If checked, it will include only those parent containers where CP restrictions

If selected, will ignore the parent containers where available slots < Required places (if ‘All in the same container’ checkbox is selected)

...

If selected, will not ignore the parent containers where available slots < Required places (if ‘All in the same container’ checkbox is unchecked)

...

If not selected, this does not bypass the prerequisite condition/ defined freezer
