A permissible value type field created using a dropdown manager has advantages as the values are easily maintained, exported and any change imported, exported or updated either from UI or bulk import (in case of large sets). Any changes made in the dropdown is manager will be reflected in the form.
To use the Multiselect option for the PVS type field, one can create a subform and have the PVS field within the subform. This Currently it is not possible to create a PV field with a multi-select option. As a workaround you can create a sub-form and have the PV field within the sub-form which will allow selecting multiple values for the fieldby using add another.
Below is an example of a PVs file created using a dropdown manager. Suppose you have a custom field with more than 1k values, and you wish to have Multiselect option. Then follow below steps:
...
Example: Field ‘Histological quality’ is a PV field added under a sub form 'Histological details'
Create a sub form → Add the PVs field within the subformsub form
...
Attach the form to CP and you can now add multiple values to the PVs field
...
This workaround allows the values to be added to you to use the dropdown manager as well as and add multiple values can be selected for the field.
